The purpose of this site is to assist individuals in streamlining the K1 Fiancée Visa process as it pertains to Jamaica. We began our K1 Fiancée Visa process officially on May 1st, 2000 with the mailing of the Petition to the Texas Service Center and we concluded the initial phase of the process on June 27th with the approval of the Visa from the Kingston Embassy. We felt others would benefit from our experiences through a Jamaican-Specific K1 Fiancée Visa help site. We hope you find this information helpful. As there are a number of wonderful Adjustment of Status sites, duplication here is not warranted. It is our intent to provide US Citizens seeking a K1 Fiancée Visa for a Jamaican National with specific information (and of course the restated generic instructions) that will apply to the "Jamerican" process. We have attempted to include every scrap of document and encounter details from pre-file preparation to landing in the US. I will be happy to include your own experiences should you feel they would help others. Please bear in mind that I am just an individual with no law degree and any information here is taken from from my own personal experience and research. Although the information here is believed to be accurate, no warranties are expressed or implied and you agree in its use not to hold me personally liable. Your experience will most likely vary with that of mine and others in the same process. Thanks! Personal Note: I was born and live in the State of Kentucky. I lived and worked as a teacher in Jamaica between 1983-88 and began using the word "Jamerican" when asked about my nationality. Many places throughout this site you will see reference to "Jamerican" and/or the "Jamerican Process". This term refers to Jamaican-American mix and the K1 Fiancée Visa process as it pertains to a Jamaican Fiancée.
